Personality: Nightwave is part of the first batch of Cybertronian newsparks since the planet's renewal following the end of the war. As the first of the group to separate, he considers himself the "oldest" of the bunch, and as such has adopted a sort of "big brother" personality when it comes to his cohort. His alt is a shuttle, and so he's quite large — 46' in root mode and spacious enough to carry several mechs while in alt mode.

These things combined makes him quite protective of his "siblings"; a concept more firmly embraced by this batch because of their close connection to Jane Solo. He can be fierce and ready to fight to defend them when needed, and tries to be responsible so they can look up to him (figuratively and literally!) However, when he's comfortable and at ease, he tends to be more playful, even a little bit dorky.

Although he doesn't necessarily feel unhappy about having a shuttle alt mode, the other two fliers in his cohort are both Seekers, and oftentimes he feels overlooked next to them, especially around Air Commander Starscream. He tries not to let their flying prowess daunt him, but there is some resentment growing there despite his best efforts. Because of this, he is already developing the habit of taking on as much as he can — sometimes more than he should — in order to prove himself "just as good" as them. This is further compounded by the fact that, as the first newspark batch, he feels like they have a lot of pressure on them all to be "perfect" for the rest of Cybertron.

Because their Hot Spot was seeded with kyberite, all of the newsparks possess a connection to the Force. They have an empathic bond with one another, and various strengths of empathic perception of others. Nightwave also has developed a small aptitude of precognition, where he is able to anticipate movements and motion several seconds in advance, giving him outwardly extraordinary reflexes.

Because of the First Order's threat to any Force users, and because the Cybertron Parliament's motives are still unclear, only a handful of people know that the newsparks are Force-sensitive.
